Made in the Netherlands, this piece relates to Vincent van Gogh's time in Paris, which began in 1886. Encouraged by his brother Theo, Van Gogh explored the vibrant French painting style. He created several self-portraits, often using rhythmic brushstrokes and striking colours, primarily to save money on model fees. Unfortunately, during his lifetime, few recognised his innovative approach, leaving him feeling lonely and misunderstood. It was only after the tragic suicide that he gained fame, and now millions admire his work.
